Summer colds

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Well so far it has been the wettest Summer I can remember for ages - made worse by the promise it would be the hottest and driest - add to that the fact that it seems to have instigated a rash of odd Summer-time coughs, colds and sore throats and it feels that - as we approach the Summer holidays - I am less occupied with preparing juicy bbq’s and far more busy with keeping fevers down and coughs at bay. Some tried and true natural remedies for coughs include delicious things such as lemon and ginger,  liquorice and fresh thyme from the garden made into a tea with a dollop of manuka honey. The perfect blend of oils is still Snuffles - you can’t beat the fresh, head-clearing smell of rosewood teamed with peppermint - it makes everyone feel a little perkier immediately and the bedroom does not smell like a sick room at all! Propolis is the best way to tackle a sore throat - you can almost feel it doing good on its way down and finally - pineapple and fresh pears are soothing and healing - if you aren’t well you might as well make the most of it and treat yourself to the best natural things you can find!
